We took the ferry from Haines to Skagway.

It is a short trip of about 1 hour through the beautiful Taiya Inlet.

I had mixed feelings when we set foot on Skagway. It is a quaint town with a historical past. It sits at the heart of the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park.
The NP is great full of information on the Gold Rush. We learned a lot. Besides the NP Headquarters you have a couple of other interesting museums.
The facade of the buildings are mostly renovated but many are currently occupied by touristy stores and overpriced jewelry shops motivated by the several cruise ships that come on a regular basis during the summer.
