End of the Road – North West River

North West River is a oldest town in Labrador. It was stablished in 1743 as a trading post by French Fur Trader Louis Fornel,

This is where Labrador 520 ends. There are many indigenous villages beyond North West River but they are only accessible by boat along the shore of Labrador Sea, by airplane or helicopter or dog sled in the winter.

The Labrador Heritage Society is a very interesting museum located in town.

We returned to Happy Valley for dinner. There is an amazing restaurant in town that servers the Canadian Force Base, the NATO European troops and the visitors that come to reach the National Parks on the north by helicopter.

We camped for the night on a camping spot on top of a nearby hill with great views
