White Pocket – Vermillion Cliffs National Monument – Arizona

White Pocket is a distinctive area within Vermillion Cliffs National Monument.

The area is characterized by reddish Navajo Sandstone mounds and ridges, many of which are covered by a white layer, giving it the appearance of cauli flowers

It takes some effort to visit the area. The last few miles are of deep sand and depending on the weather it can become impassable

The effort to get here is well worth it.

After our first hike in the morning we return to our camp to find “Oscar” and their owners, Logan and Tara camping next to Carioca

We went for another hike later in the afternoon just before sunset

Next day we left White Pocket early afternoon
