The Thousand Islands is a North American archipelago of 1,864 islands, on the Saint Lawrence River. The Canadian islands are in the province of Ontario and the U.S. islands in the state of New York. The archipelago stretches for 50 miles and the islands range in size from outcropping rocks, small islands with a single residence to islands over 40 square miles.
